New in Motifab 0.3.0 beta

Sell DTF transfers that look embroidered.

A new line for the DTF printer you already run, with no embroidery machine. Motifab turns your customer’s logo into a print with raised thread, sheen and shadow, only the logo on a clear background. It is a print, flat to the touch: what you sell is the embroidered look.

No card, nothing charged when it ends · then €149 a year

Founding price: €99 your first year, then €149 a year for as long as you stay subscribed. Ends 31 January 2027.

Ultra realistic, on any logo.

Thread you can almost feel: satin that catches the light, tatami rows, raised edges and the shadow between them. Only the logo is kept, so it goes on any garment colour.

Examples of the Ultra realistic look, made from the sample logos’ artwork for this page. They show the look, not a printed result.

A new line from the printer you already have.

The embroidered look, sold as a DTF print: no machine to buy, no hooping, no thread changes. Motifab makes the file; your printer and press do the rest.

Both are in DTF print, beside Export, and both are in the trial. Ultra realistic is paid with AI credits; Standard comes with the licence and uses none.

Motifab AI · paid with credits

Ultra realistic

  • A picture that looks like a photo of real embroidery, made by Motifab AI from the logo’s artwork.
  • Only the logo is needed, no digitizing.
  • Paid with AI credits, about 50 for a 90 mm chest logo; its price shows before it runs.

Included · no AI, no credits

Standard

  • Drawn on your computer from the design’s own stitches, included in the licence and the trial.
  • A customer’s DST or PES prints as it is.
  • The light, the sheen and each thread’s colour are yours to set.

Ultra realistic · Motifab AI, on credits

From the logo’s artwork to a photo of real embroidery.

Motifab AI makes one picture of the logo embroidered, from its artwork. Motifab then checks it against the artwork and cuts out only the logo. It needs only the logo: no digitizing.

  • Checked against your artwork: if a letter, a shape or a thread colour changed, the picture is refused, and nothing is charged for it.
  • Only the logo, on a clear background, cut to the artwork’s own edge, its openings clear.
  • Its price shows before it runs, about 50 credits for a 90 mm chest logo; a run is charged what it really used.
  • It needs your Motifab account with a licence or the trial; the trial comes with 300 AI credits.
  • Motifab AI gets a picture of the logo, never the design file.

The file your RIP expects.

Motifab saves what DTF printers’ software reads, with nothing to fix before it prints.

PNG
RGB with transparency, sRGB, its size and DPI in the file: what DTF printers’ software takes.
CMYK TIFF
For a printer that asks for CMYK: transparency, LZW, its DPI and the ISO Coated v2 300 % profile embedded.
PDF
At the print’s exact size: the same pixels as the PNG, lossless, the clear background kept. A RIP places it 1:1.
Resolution
300 DPI, what DTF printers print, or 600 DPI: finer thread, a file four times as large.
Mockup
A JPG of the print on the garment beside it, for the customer’s approval.
Name

Only the logo: the checkerboard is what stays clear. FC Aurora, a sample crest, as an example.

An edge the white ink follows.

A DTF printer lays white under every pixel that isn’t clear. So Motifab never leaves a pixel half transparent: no halo, and no white box round the print.

Bridge Bakery, a sample logo, with a clean edge on a checkerboard: an example
Clean A hard edge, every pixel opaque or clear: the white lies exactly under the thread.
Lakeside, a sample logo, with a white outline round it on a checkerboard: an example
Outline A narrow band in the garment’s colour round the design, 0.2 to 2 mm, as a satin border lies.
  • Choke draws the edge in by 0.1 or 0.2 mm, so no white underbase peeks out round it.
  • Openings in the logo stay clear: the garment shows through, as it does through embroidery.

Examples, shown on a checkerboard as Motifab shows what is clear.

From logo to print in four steps.

  1. Open the logo

A logo just opened is enough for Ultra realistic. The standard print uses a digitized design, or a customer’s DST or PES.

  2. Click DTF print

The button beside Export, or File › DTF Print (Embroidery Look)… in the menu.

  3. Set the print

Ultra realistic or Standard, the size in millimetres or inches, 300 or 600 DPI, the garment’s colour and the edge.

  4. Save it

A PNG, a CMYK TIFF or a PDF, with its mockup JPG. Send it to your RIP.

A whole film in one file.

Choose Gang sheet and Motifab repeats the logo across a page of film, ready for the printer. An Ultra realistic picture is made once and stamped on every copy: no second run.

  • Film 30, 33, 45, 58 or 60 cm wide, or a page of your own up to 3 m wide and 5 m long.
  • As many copies as fit, or a number of them, 5 mm apart and 5 mm from the edge to start with.
  • Turn to fit: copies turned a quarter turn where that fits more on the page.
  • Cut marks in the margin only, in line with the gaps: nothing is printed between the logos.

Questions

Features

What is a DTF embroidery effect print?
A DTF transfer printed from a picture of embroidery. Motifab makes the picture with its thread, sheen and shadow, so the print looks embroidered; it is pressed like any DTF transfer, and it is as flat to the touch as one.
How do I make a faux embroidery DTF transfer?
Open the logo in Motifab, click DTF print beside Export, choose Ultra realistic or Standard, set the size, resolution, garment and edge, and save the PNG. Then print and press it as you do any DTF transfer.
Does it give a 3D embroidery effect?
It pictures one: raised thread, its sheen and the shadow it casts. The transfer itself stays flat. For raised thread, export a digitized design as a machine file and embroider it.
Do I need an embroidery machine?
No. The print needs a DTF printer. Ultra realistic needs only the logo; the standard print uses a digitized design or a machine file you already have.
Which file does my DTF printer’s RIP need?
Most DTF software takes a PNG with transparency at 300 DPI: Motifab’s first choice, its size and DPI written in the file. For a printer that asks for CMYK, save a TIFF with the ISO Coated v2 300 % profile; for a RIP that places PDFs 1:1, a PDF at the exact size.
300 or 600 DPI?
300 DPI is what DTF printers print. 600 DPI draws finer thread and makes a file four times as large.
Can I print a customer’s DST or PES file?
Yes, with the standard print. Open it and its stitches print as they are, with no digitizing. Change a thread’s colour for the print, and the design keeps its own.
Does the DTF print use AI?
Ultra realistic does: Motifab AI makes its picture, paid with credits, and its price shows before it runs. The standard print doesn’t: it is drawn on your computer from the stitches, with no credits.
Can I sell it as embroidery?
Sell it as the embroidered look. It is a DTF print, flat to the touch; a customer who wants raised thread should get embroidery, and Motifab digitizes the same logo for the machine.
Is DTF print in the free trial?
Yes. The 15-day trial has every tool on, DTF print included, and needs no card. The standard print uses no credits; Ultra realistic uses the trial’s 300 AI credits, about 50 for a 90 mm chest logo.
